“I was lucky enough to have the pleasure of fishing with Dave twice in a year. Being from England and having a contact in Ireland my holidays this year were fishing related. I wanted a nice stamp of bass as where I fish they are few and far between. Also, I love a good pollock fight so was keen to hit up Ireland. I contacted Dave and he was happy to help. I went early April which I knew was risky for any fish . We spent 3 sessions learning water craft , lure speeds , lure types (I hadn’t ever used creature baits or many weightless jelly’s). It was hard going, Dave did land 2 in the first 2 sessions, I didn’t but felt my time was coming. On the 3rd session on a creature bait, bang the money shot. A 59 bass flying off on my newly learnt skill. Buzzing. Great times... Now I had the bug, so I booked in again for late July. Now having a better idea, I was keen to fish with Dave at night and day if he could. Lucky for me he was free and we met one morning for a session on the top. Bang first cast Dave’s in. Bang 3rd cast I’m in, smashing my pb and getting a 65. Now I’m loving it. I continued to catch for the rest of day and was just so happy to spend time catching bass and seeing them swim away. On our next meet I had said pollock please Dave. Now I don’t know many people who can pull this off but I had my best ever pollock from shore that day. It was late evening and Dave said we have a chance at this location... he wasn’t lying . I had a small one first cast probably around 2lb. Then Dave pointed to a spot and said “I’d try that there”... bang lure smashed but lost a big one. Change it over and bang, I hooked that big one a 5.5lb pollock right there below me. The smile on me was massive. Great times... move on to night fishing. Ok, how do we not fall in? “You’ll be ok just do as I say”... ok. That night I caught big bass 69, 65, 68.5,60 ,58,47. This was mental. Now, I’m not saying all trips will be like this but the stuff I learnt with my time with Dave will last forever. I got home went out to my local mark and caught that night . The best I’ve ever had in England for around 7 years, a 58. I’ve kept catching since, in fact I haven’t been out since and not caught a bass. What a great teacher. . Thanks Dave. Been a record breaking year 2025. I look forward to coming again and learning more”

“Met up with Dave Power and his son Liam, hit Hook Head again, lure fishing. Learned a lot from Dave – a wealth of knowledge – it was like I was back in school trying to digest all the info. Thanks Dave 👍👍.”

“Although the weather wasn't great, absolutely soaked to the skin for 2 days in a row it was worth the drive had a great time and a few fish to go with it thanks to Dave Power and his vast knowledge of the area.

Big thanks to Dave for putting me to the fish and throwing me a couple of lures that did the job.”

I’ve been threatening to get out and give lure fishing another crack but with no confidence in my ability or technique whatsoever. I’ve recently been texting Dave Power with questions after questions about different things and I’m surprised he hasn’t told me to f** off annoying him yet 😆 but to his credit he answered anything I’ve asked with a lot of detailed answers, so I asked him could we meet up for a few casts on the water – but more about learning different aspects, techniques, reading the water, the currents and which lures to use in certain areas when fishing.*

I didn’t ask Dave to meet up just catch a fish and go home – that wasn’t the plan. As mentioned it was for getting advice, tips, knowledge and to learn the basics really. Without doubt, Dave’s knowledge, watercraft and ability to catch bass is second to none. It was a great evening just chatting and trying to absorb everything he was saying.

So with that, we looked at the weather for Sunday for me to go out by myself on my own mark and it looked good, so I decided to get out. So with 100% more confidence and obviously taking a lot on board, out I went early for 2.5 hours before the weather turned. I managed to pull myself a 62cm bass (PB)..”

“I finally caught my first proper bass (63cm). I started this whole sea fishing about a year ago and since then it was a dream to catch a bass over 42cm (at that time I really just wanted to be able to bring one home).

Got myself a cheap spinning rod and a couple of lures…after numerous blank sessions I got LUCKY and hooked a fish about 7cm in length. Thought to myself this is way too hard so I started using bait instead.

Fast forward about a year and I got sick of catching schoolies all the time and gave the lures another go, watched all the videos on YouTube wasted a good bit of diesel and obviously lost a few lures along the way.

Still no fish…

Then I remembered that there is a guy called Dave Power I see in multiple groups posting successful trips left right and centre. Gave him a text a couple of weeks ago and he was nice enough to introduce me to the basics of it all that I for some reason couldn’t find anywhere else.

Now I’m hooked for life.”
